With Spring often comes rain. Have your kids ever asked you how clouds and rain work? Now you can show them with this Rainbow Rain experiment!
Rain happens because clouds hold moisture until they get too heavy, and then they release the moisture as rain! This fun activity gives your child a visual representation of the process. Here’s what you need:
- Shaving cream
- Food coloring in as many colors as possible
- Mason jar
- Water
Fill the jar with water, and create a shaving cream “cloud” on top. Start adding colors to the top of the “cloud” little by little. Then, you wait! Watch as the colors work their way through the shaving cream and rain into the water. At the end, the water will be a swirl of rainbow colors!
