Valentine’s Day is around the corner, and for STEAM Saturday, we are making Fizzing Hearts! This project will help your small child practice their fine motor skills, and they will also learn about the reaction between baking soda and vinegar.
For this experiment, you’ll need paper, white school glue, baking soda, vinegar (and a container to put it in), liquid red food coloring (if you have some), a dropper of some sort, and a tray or baking sheet (to contain any mess).
Use the glue to draw heart outlines onto the paper, and sprinkle them with baking soda, then leave it to dry. If you have red food coloring, add it to the vinegar. Then add the vinegar to the center of the heart, and they will fizz away!
