STEAM Saturday – Family Flag! (6-14-2025)

Today is flag day!  As we celebrate the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official American Flag, this week you and your child can make your own flag while learning about symbols, logos and trademarks!

Just like flags represent different countries, logos represent different businesses, teams, and organizations.  A good logo will communicate information about the product or organization, and have distinctive colors and imagery.

Your job is to design a logo flag that represents your family.  Gather your materials to make your logo flag.  Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Craft items
  • Dowel or stick
  • Paper or fabric
  • Markers or other drawing/coloring utensils
  • Glue or tape

Before creating your design, think about your family.  What type of things do you like to do together?  Do you have shared hobbies or foods?  What colors or patterns represent your family?  Does anyone have any special talents?  What other things can you identify that make your family unique?

Now it’s time to design your logo.  Once you are happy with your logo, create a flag that prominently features your family logo!

As always, get as creative as you want, and above all, have lots of fun learning together!

We’ll see you right back here next Saturday for another STEAM Saturday activity!  Scroll through the rest of our website to learn how Critchlow Adkins is Building Brighter Futures for the children and families we serve!
