Summer is the perfect time of year for getting outside and making the most of the sunshine. Today, we have a super cool STEAM project you can do at home with your child to sprinkle in a little science with your sunshine. You’ll be able to make your own s’mores or even melt cheese outside when you build a solar oven!
Here are all the “ingredients” for making your oven:
- A Pizza Box
- Aluminum Foil
- A Box Cutter or Knife (*safety first – you’ll need to help with these parts)
- Permanent Marker
- Ruler
- Elmer’s Glue
- Plastic Cling Wrap
- Black Construction Paper
- Tape
Check out this cool video from ICanTeachMyChild.com to see how to build your solar oven together!
As always, get as creative as you want, and above all, have lots of fun learning together!
We’ll see you right back here next Saturday for another STEAM Saturday activity! Scroll through the rest of our website to learn how Critchlow Adkins is Building Brighter Futures for the children and families we serve!
