Cordova Expansion

Our Cordova Site is located within Chapel District Elementary School.  We previously had one dedicated preschool classroom, and our before- and after-school and summer camp programs were hosted in the school’s cafeteria.  Although effective, the cafeteria was not an ideal location.   Each morning, CACC teachers would arrive at the cafeteria to set up activities prior to students arriving and then clean up after the children leave for class.  In the afternoon, the process was repeated.  Operating in this manner was very challenging.

The renovation and expansion of Chapel District Elementary School presented an incredible opportunity to build a brand new, larger Cordova Site childcare center.  Our new center has one all day preschool classroom and two school age classrooms for before- and after-school care and summer camp programming.  The spaces are light and bright, and full of engaging learning stations where the children can explore new ideas and let their imaginations run wild.  In addition, there is a Site Director’s office and a much-needed teacher work space for our hard working staff.

This new site has allowed us to offer childcare for up to 30 additional school age students, helping us address a critical shortage of childcare availability on Maryland’s Mid-Shore.  Having reliable childcare is crucial to our community’s economic development!
